MONDRAGONE – Operation by the Mondragone Carabinieri territorial unit, six areas seized and four individuals reported. The Carabinieri's commitment to combating environmental crimes in the so-called Land of Fires continues unabated. On the morning of Saturday, November 15, 2025, a large-scale coordinated operation ordered by the Caserta provincial command saw the Mondragone territorial unit engaged in a widespread operation throughout the Mondragone territory, culminating in the seizure of six areas used for illegal landfills and the reporting of four individuals responsible for environmental violations. The primary objective of the operation was to identify the areas most exposed to illegal waste dumping and investigate activities potentially linked to the irregular management of waste materials. The first case involved a man living in Castel Volturno, who was reported after finding an area of approximately 50 square meters filled with demolition materials, plastic, glass, and concrete blocks abandoned directly on the ground in the courtyard of his home.

Three separate uncontrolled landfills identified

The area was placed under seizure. Shortly thereafter, officers from the Castel Volturno station identified an illegal landfill for hazardous waste on a rural property on Via Macedonio. The space, approximately 80 square meters, was seized and handed over to the Municipality for safety. The joint intervention of the Mondragone and Falciano del Massico stations was also significant, identifying three separate uncontrolled landfills: one near the entrance to the former "Iacobucci" quarry, one along the Falciano-Mondragone provincial road, and a third on the Ciaurro municipal road, the latter being particularly critical due to the presence of decommissioned and bulky refrigerators that posed a risk of blocking the nearby stream. All areas were seized and designated for remediation. Finally, in Carinola, the local station's officers reported three people, owners of an agricultural plot of over 3,000 square meters on which ferrous materials, construction waste, mechanical parts, and several trucks had been piled up.

Operations of the Mondragone territorial department

In this case, too, the entire area was seized. The service's findings show four people reported, six sites seized, 13 vehicles inspected—including vehicles used for waste transportation —and 17 people identified. The operations of the Mondragone territorial unit are part of a broader framework of checks conducted by the Caserta provincial command. In November 2025 alone, Carabinieri officers carried out numerous operations throughout the region, seizing areas and reporting several individuals responsible for environmental crimes. In Gricignano di Aversa and Cesa, hazardous waste and a 1,000-square-meter area with oily materials and illegal dumping were identified, resulting in fines of over €19,000. In Orta di Atella, on Via Astragata, 10 tons of tires, mattresses, and municipal waste were seized; in Frignano, a 13,000-square-meter agricultural area containing hazardous waste was seized. Also in Orta di Atella, 450 cubic meters of industrial waste were seized from a 1,500-square-meter plot of land, with two people reported.

The Caserta provincial command confirms its maximum commitment to territorial control.

In Villa Literno, an illegal auto body shop and an area with unauthorized buildings and hazardous waste were discovered. In Capodrise, a man was reported for the illegal transportation of ferrous materials, while in Gricignano di Aversa, three women were charged with dumping over 5 tons of municipal solid waste. The Caserta provincial command remains fully committed to territorial control and the prevention of environmental crimes , through targeted services, investigative activities, and a constant presence in the areas most at risk of illegal dumping. Operations will continue in the coming days with further inspections and extraordinary checks, according to a press release from the Carabinieri.
